I have about 10 rost plants in pots.  In fact these have been there for more than two-three years.  I am not happy with the flowering of these plants.  They give me one flower once in a while and sometimes the flower is infected in the middle portion. .  How to improve the flowring of these plants.  Should I change them with new plants?  If so where from I can get good rose plants.  I am interested in the plants giving blooming roses.  In fact, in the initial stages I have been getting really good Roses with bright colours.  Can anyone help me.  Thanks  -- rkrajagopalan (09986700475)

Hello Sir,

I am malini , i have been growing roses for a long time.  In my experience, roses are heavy feeders. As the plants are in pots, they can be fed with good fertilizer(in meager amount, depending upon the plant and pot size) every 15 days.If the soil is not changed for 3 years, then it is good to change the soil or can be amended by adding organic compost. To activate the growth, pruning all the old and dead stems really helps. If the plant is infested, then spraying an insecticide and removing the affected parts helps.

Hope this helps.

malini.

Hello Malini:

Thank you very much for the suggestion for the Rose Plants.  In fact, these plants are more than 3 years old and except periodically adding Rose Mix and spraying Neem spray not much has been done.  Of course I regularly loosen the soil before adding Rose Mix and sometimes Nitroplex.  I am sure with your suggestion I will be able to imrove my rose plants.  Thank you once again   -- rkrajagopalan.
