I am also on the look out for reusable containers have checked with local scrap dealers not able to get so if you do get it at chropet please let me know will make a trip

Today I visited Bloom and Peat and got a couple of grow bags thought of buying more but looks a little pricy I was told I can get 1 metre grow bags at Rs 100 but these cost Rs150 !

I also went to SPIC nursery in kotupuram they sell cocopeat with out the bag 1kg costs Rs 110 that turns out more expensive!

They sell panchagavya ( hope I have the term right ) I was told but it was out of stock Frown

sure would let u know if i happen to source any from chrompet . i was also quoted the same price for grow bags , but i too found it pricey .

5 Kg coco peat actually cost less then Rs 10 at the manufacturer ....but mostly they export it and are not interested in retailing , thats y the demand and thats y the heavy price ...

From IT Technology to mustard seeds everything is just targeted at the customers abroad and being in a nation which is rich in resources , we cant find even simple things around .

It once happened to me that i was in need of a specific spice which is originated from india  , and it was not available here , i had to ask a friend to get it from the States when she came .

i called up a coco peat manufacturer and i was surprised to know coco peat 5k block costs just that much , however the minimum quantity to place an order is about one container lorry full ....

i went bonkers hearing that .....so now running places to source them at the cheapest possible rate ..

GG is offering it at a very reasonable price , but since i am at chennai the shipping costs more than my requirement . May be wld find someone from bangalore to collect it for me .

@ Usha: The Daily Dump clone (Navneet Raghavan, Chennai) also sells Coco Peat. This was not in blocks, but in bags. 5 KG bag was sold at Rs. 100. I got one last month. You may contact him. The address and phone numbers are available in their web site - http://www.dailydump.org.

@ Premalatha: I have made friends with local scrap shop owners. Paint buckets and crates are available with them. 5 litre paint buckets cost Rs. 10. But In my experience these buckets are not enough for plants that need more root space. May be for small flowering plants, these are suitable.

Plastic crates are sold at these shops in terms of their weight. Each KG at Rs. 40. So, a decent crate would be of 2 KG and would would spend Rs. 80 on that. That is what I did last week. Laugh

hi all,

I was visiting ReStore last weekend and I saw that they had

cocopeat, panchagavya and a herbal pesticide. Could not check the prices of panchagavya & the pesticide since it was dark ,only noticed that the cocopeat blocks had Rs.125, written on them, must be around 5 kgs.

cheers

I purchased the old crate last Saturday and on sunday, filled it with soil / potting mix. I had sown the seeds of spinach. On Wednesday, I could see 90% of the seeds germinated. I think this time I should get good yield of spinach!

I have seen some of the scrap dealers selling big paint buckets and plastic drums near Thoraipakkam toll gate on OMR....no idea about the price. You can check there or any other scrap dealer close to your location.
