Hi Guru Lakshman,

I had made a post in Nov 2010 detailing the nutrient solution recipe. Unfortunately, that post no longer exists. Instead, you can

use the Hydroponics calculator from this link ()

. It has some good recipes.

You might want to also see the website for more information.

BTW, you cannot use common fertilizers such as DAP, MoP, SoP etc for Hydroponics. You would need 100% water soluble fertilizers.

GG,

We are all waiting for NS post.

Thanks,

Srikanth

Hi Guru Lakshman,

Please see the post that I made a post in Nov 2010 detailing the nutrient solution recipe. GG had provided the link to it in the post above. You can use the Hydroponics calculator (Hydrobuddy) from this link (http://scienceinhydroponics.com).

Thanks,

Srikanth

Hi Guru Lakshman,

Where are you from? Most of the Macro nutrients should be available in big towns and cities (Vijaywada, Rajahmundry etc). You might face problems with Micro Nutrients though.

I buy most of the Macro nutrients in Hyderguda, Hyderabad. I generally buy from the Store Srikanth Reddy (it is next to the Hyderguda Petrol pump) as it has space for car parking. Search the forums for Srikanth Reddy or "Madhavi from hyd" and you should find more details of the store.

Micro Nutrients. Chelated Iron you can get in Hyderguda. The remaining stuff you can get in stores that sell lab reagents and chemicals in Ramkote.

I am generally faced with the problem of high pH hence, I use Phosphoric acid to bring down the pH.

I strongly suggest reading as much material on Hydroponics as possible. It is very easy to make mistakes. I once mixed all dry salts!!! Hydroponics is very less forgiving as opposed to traditional organic gardening.

Hi srikanth and every one,

thank you very much for your support and help specially srikanth .

I am able to get all the nutrients from the local fertilizer shop with micro nutrients and chelated iron.

All the nutrients are available in 1 KG packs.

I bought all the nutrients from this company called aries agro.

All the micro and macro nutrients are available in the shops that sells aries agro product.

I am following the formula given my GG.

One more question is i am planning to put polyhouse for my plants can some one tell me where can i get the plastic for the poly house. It is called   UV treated LDPE (200 microns)

Any ideas for constructing poly house are welcome .

Hi Gurulakshman,

What is the area of polyhouse you are planning to build? What are you planning to grow and Where?

You could try some of the shops in Ranigunj area in Hyderabad. You could also try contacting neel.co.in for procuring imported greenhouse inputs.

HI srikanth,

i have around 400 square feet of space on my roof.

I want to build the roof top garden for fresh vegetables and flowers.

We have monkey problems i am worried they will eat veggies and spoil the system.

I am planning to build a small poly house to control pests and monkey's.

i heard LDPE poly sheets (200 microns) are very good compared to green nursery mat.

I am looking for that LDPE poly sheet.

Hi Rohit,

Unfortunately, I do not have any setup of hydroponics at my place as of now. I had to remove them during summer and yet to restart. I am currently busy with commercial agriculture these days which takes away all my free time. There could be a possibility of starting a commercial hydroponics set up in a few months if everything goes well.

I will let you know if I start my home setup anytime soon.

Srikanth can u give me ur contact mailbor number. I have some questions abt nutrients.
One basic question is can i buy a standard NPK and tracel and some macros and add them in the water? There r diff kinds of NPKs. When u started did u use any NPK and had success? At hyderguda srikanth reddy shop all i got was npk 19 foliar spray and a tracel packet. Will visit chamundi its so far .... and for ph up and down which is better.where did u buy the ph metre. I need a pump and drip kits where in hyd to buy them?

And for pests wat works? Soap sol and neem oil? Anything else?.i stay far from hydergyda, the last time i went i didnt knew what all i needed. Since i am a begginer i wanted some NPKs and addons... gradually will make my own nutes using ur formula.

Hi Indira,

I have mailed you my contact number.

You cannot use NPK such as 19:19:19 and macros such as Tracel. You will have to get all the salts/fertilizers I have listed. You can get them all from Hyderguda (Srikanth Reddy Pesticides). You can call them in advance to check for the availability before going there. You can buy the pH meter and air pumps on ebay. I wouldn't suggest drip kits for Hydroponics just now for the simple reason that you will have to have a closed circuit recycling nutrient solution which is not that easy to setup. DWC is what I would suggest to a beginner.

A healthy plant attracts less pests. So, make that as your goal. Neem oil has limited success once the pests have attacked. So, focus on having healthy and strong plants and follow a weekly regimen of preventive neem spray.

Srikanth, i have seen some youtube videos where experts are using NPK fertilizers for growing hydroponic plants.

I dont understand why u said Fertilizers cant be used in hydroponic system? because all NPK fertilizers are water soluble and its a simple fact.
Only micronutrients which should be in cheleated form.
