... But I like green things around me, so I've been growing Tulsi (Basil) since last October, added a Parijat last Feb and now I have 2 little Cattleya orchid babies ( 1 purple and 1 white) brought back for me in little bottles from Thailand by a friend. I had a money plant but I killed it 🙁 Please help me... I don't want to kill off my orchids too! ConfusedConfused

Thanks for all your patience and help guys! Laugh

Have a few more questions, hope its ok if I share them here…

1)I have a cat, who especially like to chew on plants. And since I'm not around most of the day I can't exactly stop her. I tried looking up online, but it doesn't mention whether parijat is poisonous for her or not? Also I need to grow some Catnip (Nepeta Hindostana) for her so that she will leave the other plants alone, but my local nursery guy seems clueless even after I showed him photo printouts of the plant, I am at a loss as to how do I find one??

2)I happily owned a Tulsi (Basil) plant for over a year, but it flowered and I didn't know you need to cut it off, so now its dried up and died. I went to the local nursery and asked for a tulsi, and he gave me this plant, but while my earlier tulsi had smaller leaves and was more wide, like a mini-tree, this one looks and grows differently. Is this the correct plant??

3) The Parijat (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis) plant has really shot up well to over 2 feet by now, I keep it planted in a 3 gallon pot. Firstly, I think I may need to cut it back a little so any recommendations for a pruner or what to look out for when buying one? And should I shift it to a larger (6 gallon) pot? Also, it appears to be shedding leaves some times, and there are brown spots on some of the leaves is this normal?

4) Regarding the orchids I mentioned above, should I open them up or let them be? And what is a good place to shop for orchids in Mumbai? I would like to keep them in hanging baskets once they are a bit larger…

(also how do I upload photos?)
