ConfusedI urgently need advise to avoid further loss. What insecticide and fertilizer shud I use?

Hi Shweta,

The insects were probably in the compost. They probably hatched in the moist conditions. There is no point in spraying any insecticides or pesticides to such young seedlings. My suggestion would be to restart the process. Make sure you use good quality compost. Where did you get the compost from?

Once the seedlings are out you have to remove the covering.

Hi Srikanth,

Thanks a lot for the reply.I took a 5 kg cocopeat block and moistened it.first 2 pots had insects while the other 2 which i filled later did not. sorry the mixture was not vermicompost .its some soil ritemix(perlite+irish peat moss+vermiculite) which i was mixing with cocopeat just a hand full in each container of 10 litres.

I have removed and done repotting.the same mix in other 2 pots have given 2 seedlings each, which im going to thin once they grow little more.can u suggest a general pesticide for the veges plz.

Really appreciate your advise

Can you post a picture of the insects (Maggots???)?

I would suggest Neem Oil (2ml / L) spray. Some of our forum members are more knowledgeable on the organic insecticides. Hopefully they will respond too.

Hi Shweta

I am new to this forum and wish to start a veggi garden myself, need some help. I have been looking for a source for cocopeat in Delhi NCR, but haven't found one. Could you guide me where to get the cocopeat and relevant mixture, like the one you mentioned in your post. Also what it should cost approximately. Thanks.
