Gr8 looking roses. Where did you get them from? I suspect the one in the pot is overcrowded. Maybe terraceroses (a forum member) will share his two cents on it.

Hello Mamatha garu,

I would take it out right away and move to another pot as the roots are not yet intertwined. In fact I would move both of them to much bigger pots around 15" to 18" diameter and at least 15" high. Roses tend to grow big.

Hi mamtha garu,

Nice start with Roses...It reminds me of my childhood saying "Roses stand for beauty and I stand for duty". Yeah probably Srikanth garu adviced you right, may have to move the rose plants to a larger container.

How was the nursery in KPHB, I saw about 3 nurseries on the road side (though never stopped), but I felt they had huge range. I am looking for some indoor plants.

On Saturday, I attend a program by Sakshi which I have put as different topic on this forum.

I will try to repot them as soon as possible Raju garu...and the nurseries are good.......and the problem with me is i cant bargain...So I have taken the container for Rs 250, each rose plant for Rs 50/- and a rose mix packet for Rs 30/-.Do you think the rates are fine?

Mamatha garu, I think on the pricing part, I felt the container was little on the higher side, but of course since we buy in small numbers like 1 and 2 hence they would charge that much. I think the cost of the rose plants I would say some what reasonable, since all nurseries try to charge almost the same price. And same for the rose mix.

Basically, I am too a bad bargainer. But I try to influence them in my own way. All these nursery people are from a place called Kadiyapulanka Near Rajamundry on NH5. Me being also from Konaseema try to influence them using my local dialect of telugu(Slang of Godavari region).

Probably I think you can try to get containers from Hyderguda once you have planned the garden. You can then decide what containers you want to have. I think for growing vegetables stuff, you can always use grower containers which most of the time are either square or rectangle shaped (it saves space) and for flowers you can go for round ones and as they can some times be kept inside your house. If you buy in quantities we can always negotiate to get better price.

Hi Mamatha,

The roses look super. To answer your questions, for the two large hybrid teas, it might be better to put them in their own pots. Pick at least a 12-14 inch pot. Using mud/cement pots can be much cheaper (Rs 50-70). Use a mix of vermicompost and red soil. Rose mix once in a while should give a good boost.

You seem to have got a long rectangular pot. You could use such a pot for your miniature rose, or put some ivy geraniums, to hang down your balcony.

Thanks

kvs
