I am a new gardener, trying to develop a green thump and relived to find this blog as till date had been only dependent on information on Western websites, blogs etc and had to cope with understanding the difference between their climatic conditions and ours and applying the same to my newly set up balcony garden. Must thank GG for it.
As I said, I am very new to gardening and have been bitten bad by this bug. Well, my mother thinks I ve completely lost it talking and thinking of only my little garden. So far, I ve gained little success and lots of failure but am not giving it up. Gardening has become my passion and trying to grow fruits and vegetables in containers my mission. The success has been largely with flowers which look absolutely healthy and in bloom till date. The failure has to do with not coping with my tomato and strawberries.
My tomato plant which I bought from a nursery (I have no clue what type is it for the lack of any knowledge on part of nursery owner) has all it's leaves curled up and I am being told that I should dispose it off, lest it's white flies harm other plants too. Nevertheless, I ve sown some cherry tomatoe seeds in a small container and target to make seeds from the desi variety that I have in my fridge (I learnt on gardenersworld.com). Have no clue if it would work out.
Apart from that I have done two strawberry plants in a hanging basket, sown some chillies, lettuce and garlic yesterday (latter two together in a window sill plastic container).
Also I have some herbs which are doing fine so far.
So wish me luck. Also, will post various problems and questions in relevant forums. Looking forward to be interacting with all. Also glad to see fellow Gurgaonite (Revathi) and Delhites (Satish and UG) on the blog (as we share same problems of weather and supplies etc.)
Thanks GG once again, It's great to be here!!
