Black Thorns on Cucumber fruit
December 29, 2010 - 10:36 pm

One of my friend is growing Cucumber using hydroponics and he told me that there are lots of black thorns or spikes on the fruit which is forming. Once the fruit is formed those thorns or spikes are very less visible.

Fruit skin is also looking brown in color and the few plant leaves are also turning brown.

Can someone please update what could be the issue and how can we fix this if this is a disease ?

Thanks & Regards,

Thorns in cucumber are normal for some varieties and they sink in as the fruit grows. As to the color of the fruit and leaves it could be deficiencies. Post a picture or two. It will make it easier to find out the issue.
