im from mumbai trying to start my veggie garden on my terrarce but find it realy hard to buy seeds here. most of the malis here only keep decorative plants.
so my question is , is there a place like lalbaugh in mumbai, where i cld get some seeds.
or a courier way that i cld get them.
also i checked the web for annandana which keep heirloom types.do they sell to mumbai if needed.
Here's an address at Borivali where you get most stuff like seeds, vermicompost, coir peat, pots, etc.:
Meghbai Ramji Mansion,
Near Babhai vegetable market,
Lokmanya Tilak Road,
Tel No: 28019255/28339255
All the best.
FYI. Adarsh seels only Tulsi herb. He does not keep any other herb. Im still searching for places that sells herbs seeds.
I went to Ratanshi Agro opp Byculla station E. Next to Victoria Garden. Its an amazing place and he has got so many different seeds, garden material, tools, fertilizers, soil, manure, etc. Unfortunately I wanted oregano and thyme seeds and he had only packets of 3500 seeds costing Rs. 100 bucks. I dont have enough place now so Ill go for it sometime else.
I got my thyme, basil, chives and parsley seeds from a gardening shop near pune. It is on the way to pune(after mumbai-pune expressway). Near a resort called sentosa..when going from mumbai the gardening shop/ big green house comes on your left.
It is an amazing place. You can get many gardening related things there. pots, seeds, plants everything
You are right. I went to hypercity (goregaon) today and their prices of fertilizers, pesticides are cheaper that Ratanshi, although the variety is lesser.
BTW hypercity no longer keep herbs plants.
I will begin to source my requirements from here henceforth. Need to find a source for seeds around Goregaon/Malad. Ratanshi is too far from me.
You can try to plant cuttings of oregano and thyme. Buy the herbs from hypercity(veggie aisle) or oberoi(big bazaar) for that. I did it. It has been 2 months and I do not have any results as of now...Maybe summer will bring my cuttings to life. I keep planting rosemary and thyme cuttings. If not you can get herbs from Vriksha nursery in Vile parle(Irla). I got my basil from there and it is doing well. I have parsley also from the same place.
Also, there is a place called Palekar's near Crawford market. It is very good but you need to call up before going as sometimes they dont have the needed ones. When I went they were out of stock except for Parsley.
The above mentioned Adarsh stores at borivali had leek, lettuce and chicory seeds.
