Hi, I have planted chilly, pumpkin & capsicum in a container.  The growth of plants is very good but, when the flower comes it dries & falls.  Also the pumpkin creeper blooms with full of flowers but it falls.  only once I saw pumpkin creeper fruiting but that also dropped.

can I know the reason & what care I should to take so that my plants will give fruits.

thanks & regards,

LD

Pumpkin has male and female flowers. only female flower develops into a fruit. male flower is only for pollination. Female is the one that has a small pumpkin behind the petals. hope this helps

I have also seen the same problem in okra growing in Hydroponics. An expert advised me to give a nice hair cut to the plant. hair cut is nothing but cutting leaves. It seems it worked. More vegetation some times leads to fruit and flower fall. If you are giving fertilizer solution to the plants, stop it immediately and start feeding with plain water for some time. see the results.

Abortion is the term used relating to the embryo. some times after pollination fertilization fails, even after fertillization embryo development fails. This leads to abortion of the embryo, as in animals.
