Hi GG

I have few plastice containers which i used in winters to grow palak, methi etc.(2*4 feet with 1-1-5 feet height and few round tubs with same height).

Pl suggest which summer vegetables can be grown in these containers.? Can I use them for growing cucumber, pumpkin, Zuchini and bitter gourd etc? What should be the perfect height/depth of pots for beans, capsicum and other summer vegetables?

Another query-

I had picked up a lemon plant from a show last year which had two lemons and few flowers at that time.Once it came home all flowers shed off( my maali vouched for it and enjoyed a lot that I had been fooled by nurrsery guy). I kept serving the plant and to my surprise this year again there are flowers on it. Plant it almost of 3 feet height and in a 12 inches pot. Since its a challange for me this time(again my maali is observing it with lot of interest). What should I do so that I get fruits?  I have added bone meal and wood ash for phospate. Do I need to do any thing else and above all should I expect some lemons or it will take few more years as my maali says?

One more request

Once on your blog Satish had offered me Pusa nanhe. I tried but some how could not contact him. I want to know if his offer is still open and if yes how should I go about it?Hope Satish will respond to it.

Hi Greenenthu!

In fact both GG and I were looking for you for the Papaya seeds and wondered where you had disappeared! I am sorry, but afterwaiting for a long while I gave away the seeds to other friends. In fact all my seedlings (48) died. Some say it was because of the excessive monsoon. It is quite cumbersome to get the seeds from IARI. However, if I do go and get some seeds again, I will surely keep some for you. Sorry again fot the let down but I really waited for a long time for you to respond.

Hi Satish

Thanks for prompt reply.I know its my fault. Actually there was a huge communication gap. Anyway, i will be prompt next time. Its so sad to know about your seedlings. Infact weather is very unpredictable in Delhi and its not easy to do gardening. Banglore people are very lucky that way.

After observing the warm days for few days , I had put some seeds of summer vegetables on Saturday and Sunday only we had rains and temp. has gone down. Man purposes and God disposes!!!

It would be great if you can share your summer vegetable preparations and special tips for survival in heat of May and June.

Happy gardening
