About the dormant part, I think so too. Google landed me up on this great website and kudos to you GG and other rookie gardeners, I got myself added to the list.Â
But one think was disappointing lack of activity in the forum by the mods/ other Sr members. Albeit there is tons of information for us rookies to start buying stuff, sowing them and transplanting etc, but considering we are novices in this field, constant interaction is the must.Â
Â
I understand the mods could be busy, and may be it is my over enthusiasm that I am expecting quick replies. May be the site responds slowly as the plants grow 😉Â
But still happy to be here. The existing information is plenty for now. If mods could be on this site more frequently that'll be awesome too!

Hi Snorkel4u,
Â
I am not sure how many mods are there on this forum but I am one among them. I do make it a point to visit at least once a day during weekdays. I am a mod not by virtue of my subject knowledge but more by virtue of my passion to keep the site clean (no spams messages etc). As and when there are topics that are within my knowledge sphere I do chip in.
There are many sr. members apart from GG who are very knowledgeable. Why don't you post your specific questions? I am sure someone will help you out.
The problem I see is that most of us lead a hectic life and do not have the time for gardening as much as we would love to. The initial enthusiasm is high but it peters out in a few months for inexplicable reasons. For example there were a couple of forum members who were very keen to collaborate with me and help each other out in gardening matters. In fact they even visited my place. After that good start we couldn't take it forward much. Like me, I guess they too are very busy with their day to day activities.
There were instances when GG asked some Hyderabadis to contact me for help. But hardly anybody did. I am not saying that they should. The problem is that if they do not get instant solutions people tend to lose interest. That also seems to be the general problem with the participation in the forum. We also need to keep in mind that many people contact GG directly by email instead of the forum. GG alone cannot help all the people. I agree all knowledgeable people should chip in.
Thanks,
Srikanth

Thanks a lot Srikanth for being spot on. I am sure that people who want to start gardening are at their enthusiastic best, and so I can understand their thirst for knowing it asap. It is easier for a person to answer when the questions are very specific. As Srikanth pointed out, there are experts in this forum who know a lot and the best way to get your questions answered is posting in the forum and give it some time. I know its hard ..been there done that. but then trust me we all want to help out and thats why this website exists. I will work on putting a page "Start here" which kinda gives a hand held tour into the world of gardening.
Snorkel4u, Thanks for the feedback and I will try to be more active in this forum.

Gradually lost interest in posting updates since as there appeared to be no response to the posts. It takes quite some time to capture pictures / videos and post updates. I do get PM's occasionally about where to get stuff and try to help as much as I can.
Of late I have been diverting my attention towards by another interest - rooftop Solar power and have not been able to devote much time to gardening or posting updates.Â
But unless there is some feedback or knowledge sharing I find it difficult to spend time in posting updates.

Thanks all for responding. Great to see you guys spring back in Action. As Shrikanth and GG have mentioned, I already PMd a few Sr members on the forum, like panjakwillis and urbangardener etc.Â
Â
As of now I am still reading and reading and gathering my facts together. Making a shopping list of stuff I need to buy to "properly" start my home garden.Â
I would have got the supplies this weekend itself, but then I realised I won't be around for 2 weeks in July. I will be traveling to Bangalore, so decided its better to hold on to my horses for a while. I could visit GG and other Sr members in Bangalore and get some tips from them as well. Of course visit Lalbagh too and then return to Gurgaon and start my garden. How does that sound?
Â
In the mean time I will keep posting my queries, will create a thread for self.Â
