Hi Shweta,
I have tried growing Coriander and one thing not highlighted here is, Coriander doesn't need light for germination. I don't know how much of it is true, but it worked for me. I was using hybrid Coriander seeds. Not the one we use in home. The only difference I found between the 2 were that the latter were treated/ cured for pests or other problems. They were coated with a red/ pink paint which got on to my fingertips as well.
I didn't beat them with a slipper, how ever I used a flat scale or for that matter anything flat, till they just crackle and split open. You don't need to powder them.
I then sowed them in moist soil + peat. and help them in a cupboard. Within 1 week they germinated and are now hungry for sunlight. After the first true leaves I can see the actual coriander leaves in them. However they are not as bushy as you get in the grocery shop. It will be a month before they reach that level.
I wanna know how to the roots of Coriander grow? Do they grow deep or do they grow sideways?
