Hello everyone,
Here is a recipe that I want to introduce to everyone. This is by Dr Howard Resh and this is what I have been using for my tomato plants.
Works like a charm and does well for other plants as well(Cucumber and Pepper).
N: 140 ppm
K: 352 ppm Mg: 50 ppm P: 50 ppm Ca: 180 ppm S: 168 ppm |
Salt gms/100Litre of water.
Calcium Nitrate 80.6
Potassium Nitrate 10.4
Mono Pottasium Phosphate 22.1
Potassium Sulphate 59.8
Magnesium Sulphate 49.4
Enjoy!

Hi,
The easiest method would be to buy a trace element mix like TRACEL from Rallis. Though Tracel has Iron it is not in Chelated form so you would have to buy Chelated Fe to avoid risk of Chlorosis.
I will be putting my NS receipes later today that also includes the trace elements.
Thanks,
Srikanth

Hello Madhavi,
Yes I still use that formula although with some modifications based on plant behavior. The trace elements is same as the website.
Basically, I reduce the EC if I see too bullish plant and increase if I see spindly one. Also depends on the plant fruit load.

Guys,
Please respond . I know you guys are knowledgable and we are beginers who find it very tough to understand the nutrition needs of plants.
I dont think its a very good idea to buy readymade fertilizers like Organic boon , please comment.
I started with these plants
1. Okra 5 seedlings
2. Tomato 20 seedlings ( I will be using only 5 )
3. French Marigold ( used all 60+ seeds my bad ) . All germinated now i dont have space
I used cocopeat for germination and now without nutrients the plants are dying.

Loganth,
For seedlings you can use 1gm of 19-19-19 in a litre of water and water the plants. As the plants grow we can increase the grams/liter.
hope this helps.
regarding the nutrients there is another forum thread that has all the info you are looking for.i will look it up.

Hi gg
So we shud be buying those 5 salts separately? If we add in grams thos nutes ...is that all? Can add tracel mix also to it? There is no A and B solution in this? I am reading lots of stuff these days trying to understand the set up and nutes. Any pref for brand of nutes?

Hi
regarding the figures given above with the Resh Recipe.
Calcium Nitrate 80.6
Potassium Nitrate 10.4
Mono Potassium Phosphate 22.1
Potassium Sulphate 59.8
Magnesium Sulphate 49.4
Do help. Where am I going wrong ? Take the case of calcium nitrate. We need 180 ppm of calcium. Atomic wt 40, mol wt of Calcium nitrate (say anhydrous) should be 164. I get required wt of Calcium nitrate in 100 litres of water as (180 x 164)/40/100x1000 = 73.8 grams. Lets take the tetrahydrate version, which I am using. The molecular weight becomes 236. I get the weight required as (180 x 236)/40/100 x1000 = 106 grams.
How am I missing that 80.6 figure above ? I get similar discrepancies for the other salts.
