Hi,
I got some cocopeat growbags (specifications please see : http://www.thiraviyamcocopeat......rowbag.htm ) for my hydroponic setup. I have added about 700 PPM of Calcium Nitrate to water and fed it to the growbags though drip. Some of the bags have hydrated well while many of them are yet to fully hydrate. I can actually feel water in the growbags. It has been that way for about 3 days now. What could be the prroblem?
Could it be possible that I added too much water as a result there isn't enough space for the cocopeat to expand?
Thanks,
Srikanth

The way I do it is, I make planting holes in the top and then keep pouring water into it. After sometime, the cocopeat would have completely expanded. I make a drainage hole in the bottom. Excess water drains out. From now on care has to be taken to not let the grow bag try.
When you say, its yet to hydrate, do you mean the cocopeat is still compressed and didn't expand? Water might get collected on the sides and give a bulged appearance. Also, it depends on the compression ratio.

Hi GG,
The compression ratio is 5:1 as per the specifications on the website. Yes, it is yet to fully expand. It seems like only 50% of the cocopeat is expanded.
Initially I had poured water through the palnting holes. All the growbags have fully expanded that way. As I am dealing with 75 growbags this time, I resorted to using the drip. Currently in most of the bags water is collected at the sides.
Thanks,
Srikanth
