recently i bought two flasks of orchid seedlings from Malaysia.
one smaller flask with 6-7 plants of Venda (purple) orchid and another one big flask of nearly 40plants of Oncidium .
I was told that it can wait for 2months before deflasking ,but notice few plants were turned brown in my first flask of Venda i deflasked the same within 10days and i lost all the babies .
Big one needs to be deflasked ,have spent lot of time in web finding dos and donts but couldn't find any indian thread in this .
Iam using coconut husk chips + charcoal + broken bricks/clay pots as media .
Pls help ..

Hi Bini,
Sad to understand that your bb Venda could not make it. Normally, what you need to do when you deflask is to wash every bit of the agar agar away from the young orchid plants including its roots by a small soft brush in antifungus water. After washing dry them for about 3 hours and pot them either sphagnum moss or coco chips and put them in sealed plastic bags. After a months of growing in the sealed bag - slowly open up the bags to harden the orchids plantlets. Make sure the media is just moist. Place your plants in bright shaded area away from sun.
Hope you could understand my above sharing.
Cheers,
BMB Albert
