I restarted gardening mid September 2012, it's still in the growing phase as you can see, but I've already had a bountiful eggplant harvest...

Manu,
Your setup is superb!. Looks very professional and the plants look very healthy(touch wood). I think you should change your handle name "Frustrated gardener" to something like that reflects your success in the garden.. what say? 🙂
Keep the pictures coming..

Ha ha.
Well it is going good. The main reason for not posting too often is I ran into a water shortage problem in my apartment and I had to limit my experiments for some time. Now things seem better. So will start again this winter.
@Lakshmi:
You can check in TNagar (Parallel to Ranganathan St on the right side), they might have Seedling trays . I am not sure about grow bags. do you mean the black polybag or the cocopeat grow bag?

Yeah the new plants are all seeds from Annadana..
I am not sure whats what in the chillies tray, I can only guess. The mini bell peppers didn't germinate, rest of the chillies did. I have some banana capsicum as well, which i might wanna try my luck on. Generally Annadana seeds have good germination rate.
Do you soak your seeds for germination?

In my experience chilly takes time to germinate, tomato & eggplants germinate in 2 days. chilly take at least 4-5 days. do as below might help rather than literally soaking seeds in water--
Take a paper tower put your seeds in it fold it & put it in a air tight container, pour 3-4 spoons on water on the paper to make the seeds moist. keep in dark warm place, you will be good. You can place multiple layers of paper towel with seeds in a tiffin box type container, that's what i do, it gives excellent results..

Excellent work, Manu.
When you use the propagation tray, do you keep them indoors or in direct sunlight? I did not try propagation trays, but small plastic containers for germinating brinjal and capsicum. They did not yield good results. What should be taken care of?

Hey Jay,
I keep them in direct light for few hours, few hours in shade, I dip the trays in nutes as an when required, at least twice a day. I keep a watch, every 3 hours I check the seedlings when placed in sun, as the water the trays dries sooner sometimes.
Anything should work for germination, I am not sure why your seeds did do good. But you can try the germination process mentioned by me in this post, it always works for me.

Manu
