Hi Priya
Nice to see you have a list of awesome plants.
Hope u have a big place for them.
muskmelon - spreads on the ground. u should have a big space for it to grow. to be planted on the ground.
not in containers. can be grown in chennai
brocoli - this can be grown on raised beds. not in containers. can be grown in chennai.
cauliflower - i have no idea
water melon - spreads on the ground. again it should have a big space to grow. to be planted on the ground.
not in containers. can be grown in chennai
lettuce - No idea
capsicum - can be grown in chennai, best in grow bags
peppers - not sure which pepper you mentioned, bell peppers can be grown in chennai. black pepper (melagu) is a climber plant. far too difficult.
i have tried it but didnt get any result.
pumpkin - spreads on the ground. again it should have a big space to grow. to be planted on the ground.
not in containers. can be grown in chennai
Get mixed sand from any nursery (cow dung, red sand, river sand) or get them seperately(manure, river sand, red sand) 1:1:1 ratio
Get coco peet or coir peet block, give it some water and ( coco peet and the mixed medium at 2:1 ratio) looser the medium easier for plants to grow.
Get bacteria manure and put a handfull in each growing medium before planting in containers. this manure should not be kept open under sun.
So put little medium in the growing bag or container, put handfull of bacteria manure, and cover the rest of the bag with the meduim.
The bacteria manure will kill all the insects in the medium, and help in plant growth.
This is a good mix for all types of plant.
Try the nursery opposite to Shemmozhi poonga near Gemini bridge.
They have good soil mix and huge collection of plants.
chrysanthemum - can be grown in chennai
cosmos bipinnatus - can be grown in chennai, have tried and got good results
dianthus barbatus - can be grown in chennai, tried but no result
petunia nana - can be grown in chennai, tried but no result
senecio mariti - i have seen this type of plant here, so it should grow in chennai
lotus - needs a little shallow water and a wider container. base should be of red sand only then the roots will hang on to the base.
other sand will be loose in water hence wont give much grip for the roots.
you can try lilly, it wont need much space compared to lotus.
i have no idea about other flowering plants, sorry couldnt give much info.
Same mix can be used for the flowering plants too
Best if you can cover the top with a green net, and keep the place cool you will get best results.
