My mom cut off the end part of the celery bunch that we bought and put it in a pot and after some days we noticed growth of new leaves. We have kept the pot in semi shade and it is growing fine.
Now whenever I buy celery I look for the bunch which has at least a few roots
I will try to grow some from seed too.

Hi everyone:
Talking of celery, can anyone help me source seeds of "Root celery"? This is a variety of celery that is grown mainly for its root. Peeling the brown outer of the root reveals a pure white crisp mass which is simply delicious in salads. I have not been able to get its seeds anywhere in Delhi. Thanks in advance.
