Hello my name is Maximillian,

i am new to town and will be staying for a while, so whilst im here i would like to keep up my passion for growing, however i am i need of some direction and guidance as to growing season in this completely new climate. From what i have seen, Pongal was celebrated the other week, which i was told was the harvest festival.

Does this mean i wont be able to grow any butternut squash or tomatoes untill later in the year?

if anyone has any advise on what i can and cannot start growing (as soon as possible), i would be overwhelmed by your generosity.

all the best Max

Well true that Pongal is the festival of harvest but doesnt mean nothing else can be grown. With hotter season impending not all vegetables grow well in very hot weather with temperatures reaching mid 40s. However certain crops like Okra, Brinjal, Greens (spinach and different varieties of greens) do well in hot weather. Same is applicable for LabLab as well. Trust this helps. Tomatoes yes, the local varieties of tomato do well.
