Eventhough Tendrils are necessary for the climbers like the various Gourds, are these tendrils useful in any way for the growth of the plant. I remember to have read somewhere - I do not remember - that tendrils should be removed for the growth of the plant. Can anybody throw some light on this subject.

I am not sure if they help in the growth or not but by god' s creation there is nothing in our body that is not useful likewise the same is applicable to plants as well. There might be of some use to them like holding the trellis or other plants well. May be that it will help the plant to sway due to high winds easily without getting ripped off or injured
