Dear All,
Im new to gardening and plan to start my own kitchen garden. Before planting the seeds, I would need to know how much time it takes for the vegetable plants from the time of sowing the seeds to the time they bear fruits/vegetables. this is very important for planning, because i dont want to plant all seeds at same time and have lots of harvest which we may not be able to consume at the same time. We are a family of 4. If Im aware when the plant will start yeilding veggies/fruits, i can keep some gap in sowing and get only as much harvest as we will be able to consume at a given time.
kindly let me know the harvest cycle for following plants
1. tomatoes
2. potatoes
3. egg plants
4. carrots
5. watermelon
6. tinda/laucky
7. okra 8. capsicum 9. ginger 10. garlic 11. spinach 12. bitter gourd 13. cauliflower 14. cucumber 15. cabbage 16. raddish
thx ALL, DJ

Hi,
Most of veggies start giving fruits around 90 to 110 days from transplanting. Look up the sowing chart and add 20 to 30 days to the date of transplantation. I think you should be able to work it out. Of course google is always there. Even though the most of information in US or UK centric generally the time to germinate, transplant and harvest do not vary much from India.
You can get good seeds from Hyderguda, example: Janata Seeds (opp Bahar Cafe). Visit http://www.indamseeds.com/vegetables.htm and see if you are interested in any of those veggies. You can get them from their Hyderabad office. Their office details are as follows:
1-2-593/1, Gaganmahal, Domalguda,
Hyderabad – 500 029.
Tel: 66783661, 66783662
Forgot to add: Starting Jan 26th there will a horticultural event in People's Plaza at Necklace Rd. You can find all the seeds that you want.
Hope this helps.
