Hi,
I am new to vegetable gardening and have purchased few seed packets from Lalbagh. After reaching home I noticed that on some of the packets its written as 'Poison treated'. Now I am worried whether it is safe to use these seeds for growing the vegetables in my garden and is it safe to consume the harvest from the plants grown from these seeds. What exactly does poison treated seeds mean? Kindly help me.
Thanks

Hi Sushma,
Sure you can use seeds for sowing purpose and be sure not use for micro greens (like sprouts used for eating). Usually seeds are treated with Thiram that is to avoid some seed born diseases such as Die back, Damping off, wilt etc., If the seeds are not treated there is a chance of some deadly diseases. So there is no harmful using poison treated seeds for cultivation purpose.
