GG,
I would love to have some cherry tomato seeds if you have any. But I can hunt Lalbaug or Namdharis or Indo American as well. I have already seens racks full of vegetable seeds there. Just not sure whether I will find cherry tomatoes there.
I will probably send a note by email for this after Divali.

1. GG: How do you share seeds? Do we come over to your place?
2. Has anyone shared seeds by Indian post? How is the experience?
3. How about we all posting the seeds that we have extra and only post if we are ready to ship it to needy people?
4. TNAU folks mentioned that the seeds need to be used within 6 months and I am sure I cannot use all of them within that period and so maybe give it to folks who can use it. Its not about the money that anyone is saving, its just about using available resources and to get to seeds which are hard to find.
I have the following seeds with me and can share:
Amaranthus
Okra
Bitter gourd
Brinjal
Tomato
I will check the others tonight and update the list.
I was looking for:
Carrot, Cabbage, Cauli flower, Lettuce and any herbs. I did not find these in Chennai. Will they ever grow in hot Chennai?

Betel leaves. Will a 4 x 10 x 9 (ht) balcony be ok to grow this? There are grills in the balcony. Can they climb on it? There is the Bitter gourd guy which is growing fast now. Will these 2 guys co-exists on the grill? But the grill gets very hot from morning 8 to Noon - east facing. So, is it better at all for both of them to be on that hot grill? We should probably get a shade for the balcony. Maybe keep awnings and then grow!

Plants may not grow on grill if they get hot. But my Betel leaf plant justs grows on the ground in a shade without any issues. I had trouble curtailing its growth. I am not sure if bitter groud and beetel can grow on the same pot. Beetel would most probably outgrow the bitter groud.
Sunlight is important for plants so maybe not worthwhile putting a shade. One suggestion is to get natural ropes (jute, plant based ropes..) and have the plants grown on them. Its cheaper to try.
Pls PM me if you need beetel leaves plant.

Yes. Thanks for the offer. I can pick them up when I come for the 5 kg compost 🙂 However I will pick it only if I can plant it. The reason is - I might convert the garden into an all tomato garden with all the saplings that I have now. Feel bad to throw a few. Maybe I can (as wifey said) plant some in the building common area. Or maybe I could bring it all along for camaroon!

Guys check this out

Also check out the other seeds that are available. Since this is ebay.in and seeds are shipped from within India it should be faster and hassle free.

Ok. I am late in this topic. Anyway..
Folks usually send me an email to admin@geekgardener.in with the list of seeds they want with their phone number and their address. I ship them the seeds and they pay by online bank transfer. There might be some delay in shipping if i am saving the seeds from my garden.
I have sent seeds by post several times and have had no problem. Having said that, I prefer courier. You can track the shipment and always have some one to talk over the phone if something goes wrong.
Most of the seeds can handle upto an year. Lettuce is good if fresh seeds are used for sowing. Tomato, brinjal can easily handle 3-5 years. Store them in dark shelf packed in polythene. Thats how I store and have had no problems with germination.
Hope this helps
