Cool

Hi Nav,

Its a great feeling to see own garden flourish n bloom, all the more when one gets to relish own home grown vegetables.

Nav,never construct a roof garden(direct mitti on floor)without professional

advise from a structural engineer, which is a major nd expensive job.

well u can grow all the above mentioned vegetables in containers which r available in various shapes n sizes these days (small, medium n large),made of diff materials like earthenware, plastic, ceramic ,cement or wooden barrels/box,reusable kitchen basins, tubs n buckets.here ull have to incurr minimum expenses, depending upon how many containers n how much u want to grow.best way to procure these r raddiwala(scrapwala/kabadiwala).

if u hapen to own the house then wooden boxes(minimum 25 cm deep) r also gud option, here u'll have to take help of local carpenter, dont forget to negotiate the prices.

U can grow everything organically, need to observe wht all u can use from kitchen(haldi, lahsun, onion, baking soda, wood ash, epsom salt, milk etc) n nature to keep plant insects/pests,diseases at bay.limit urself from the use of fertilisers as when we do use, we invite all the above. use 3 part gardening soil,1 part cowdung(old rotten, jitni purani utni achhi, plants ko nuksaan nahi hota),leaf moulds n sand depending on the kind of soil u use.

yeh aap par depend karta hai ki aap kitne kam RS me garden start karna chahte hai aur kitna time or uspe mehnat karte hai,par sabse badi baat hai ke aapko gardening karne ke liye bahut dheeraj rakhna badega.

shayad ye sab apko help kare.

Happy Gardening

I am happy there is interaction going on but I can only understand little of this because I am not a native Hindi speaker. It took me a while to read this and understand.

It is preferable to keep the thread in English, so that your questions gets understood by many of them, so many answers come in. It is also good if some one searches for a term, only those posts that are in English gets indexed. (plz correct me if i am wrong here). Different languages are ok if there is no other option.

Hope this is taken in the right sense.

Hi Geekgardener,

Few things I would like to add here :-

  1. You are not a native speaker of Hindi. Don't you feel you should be one, being an Indian. Its good if we know more than one language but we should not forget our own languages (Hindi and Sanskrit). we are no more slaves of Britishers, so why we prefer a foreign language over our own. I know there are many people like you but 99% of Indian population hardly knows ENGLISH. I can speak a lot on this one but am not forgetting that its a forum for gardeners so avoiding more of it.
  2. I totally agree that English will get indexed, it will also come in search too, but I suggest we should add these features to this valuable Indian forum so that people who know either Hindi or English can make full use of it. (sanskrit already lost, while German, france and other languages were born from Sanskrit only).
  3. All taken in right sense.
Please think about it.. and ofcourse take it in right sense only as everything has double meanings.
Regards,
Nav

well, obviously what i wrote has not been taken in the right sense. I am not going to waste time arguing about which language one should learn.

I can never be a "native" hindi speaker because my mother tongue is not hindi. I did learn hindi out of my own interest and can manage anywhere in india. I also speak kannada in Bangalore because most of the gardeners who walk into speak only Kannada. I cannot impose our national language on them. our focus is gardening.

feel free to write in any language of your choice. my only point was to make it also available to others also who will come in search. The fact that you are able to write in hindi in this forum itself says that we are open for communication in any language. I am not a fan of English but I like the fact that we all can communicate from different parts of India with ease. Isn't that the point?

Sorry to miscommunicate. I would love to discuss this with you in person at hindustanbharat@hotmail.com

In case you are willing to pls drop a single line mail and I will write back with all the points I think. Lets not waste this forum's page by writing which is not abt gardening.
