I'm trying to grow some cucumber, tomato, chilli and capsicum in my east-and south-facing balcony in Kolkata. The nursery sold me these seeds and I have the cucumber and tomato plants growing, the cucumber has also flowered a bit but no fruit yet. It's only been a few weeks. But the maali at the horticultural society told me it's too late in the summer now to grow these, they will not fruit because it's too hot. I am continuing to water, but will these plants wither, or will they start fruiting once the monsoon starts?
I checked out the sowing chart - does "north India" apply to the humid and hot weather of Bengal too? It says capsicum is good for this time of year, and my plant is barely surviving after two rounds of yellow aphids (I killed them with neem oil spray), but is now sprouting new leaves. Any idea how long it might take to flower and fruit?
